One of our trustees, Adrian Thomas, took part in the Great Clarendon marathon on 4th October 2009. This is a challenging 26-mile run between the two cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester. All the money he raises will go to Together for Sudan for the education of women and children in Sudan.
Adrian has lived in London for the last 10 years after a 30-year overseas career. He took up running when he joined the Hash House Harriers in Malaysia 25 years ago and has since been a regular jogger around the lagoon in Lagos, along the Nile in Khartoum and in Calcutta’s central park. Now aged 64 he still enjoys running and has a regular circuit around Alexandra Park and Highgate Woods in North London.
He ran in the 2004 London Marathon and says that it was one of the most exhausting things he has ever done. Even so he found it very satisfying to have shared the pain and elation with so many people, and to have raised money for VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas). He also feels that the experience will help him to focus his training better this time round. He is spending part of the summer in Scotland where the moors will be good preparation for the ups and downs in Wiltshire and Hampshire.
